Following the recent adoption of the Land Tax (Amendment) Act, 2020, the Minister of Natural Resources has approved a remission of tax in consideration of the economic hardships caused by COVID-19 to the country of Belize.
The following are conditions that apply to the said land tax remission:
- The remission is available during the period commencing 12th October, 2020 up to and including 10th November, 2020;
- The remission is available to all lands in Belize on which land tax is levied under the Land Tax Act;
- The remission is at the rate of 25% off arrears and full waiver of interest in respect of each financial year;
- Landowners must make payment for a financial year in order to obtain remission;
- Payments are to be made at the Ministry of Natural Resources in the City of Belmopan or any of the District Offices countrywide.
We are therefore encouraging industries to capitalize on this opportunity.
