La Idea RFP Now Open from InBIA

Funded and initiated by the United States Department of State and in partnership with CENPROMYPE, the InBIA-hosted La Idea Incubator Program is a powerful initiative focused on strengthening entrepreneurship and job creation within Central America. This program connects promising Central American entrepreneurs with U.S. entrepreneurship centers that have proven capacity for helping foreign companies with internationalization. Apply now to be one of those centers. 

The deadline to apply to host a 2021 cohort is February 12, 2021. Applications are being accepted for the following cohorts:

Health/ Medical Technology and Services
Includes small business that develop or sell medicines, medical and/or surgical devices, medical grade equipment and supplies, as well as those that provide services within the organizations to which such care is provided.

Retail and Exports
Includes small business involved in the sale of goods and services directly to final consumers; as well as those that are exporting goods or services.

Tourism & Culture
Includes small businesses involved in the sale of goods and services focused on a local/regional tourism market with export potential or goods and services that emphasize the local culture.

Textiles
Includes small business dedicated to the production of fibers (natural and synthetic), fabrics, yarns and other products related to clothing.

There are two ways to participate in these upcoming cohorts:

  • Entrepreneurship centers designated as InBIA Soft Landings centers or seeking a Soft Landings designation can submit to host a bootcamp for cohorts of 10 entrepreneurs from Central America in one of the segments listed above. Selected Soft Landing sites will receive $15,000 to host a cohort. Any interested entrepreneurship center can apply online here.
  • Entrepreneurs from Central America in one of the above industries can apply to participate in a five-day bootcamp providing business development training, cultural immersion, and more. Any interested entrepreneurs from Central America can apply online here. (Please note that eligible countries are limited to Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama.)
