CARIBBEAN CHAMBERS’ statement on HAITI

THE NETWORK OF CARIBBEAN CHAMBERS (CARICHAM) EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER THE DETERIORATING SITUATION IN HAITI AND URGES OUR REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS TO ASSIST

CARICHAM is very concerned about the current situation in Haiti, which has become a humanitarian crisis, and urges Governments across the Caribbean to provide support to Haiti.

CARICHAM is closely monitoring the situation and is being kept informed through media reports and the private sector, of the dire situation facing the population and the business community which continues to deteriorate.

CARICHAM has been informed that civil unrest, fuel and food shortages and a public health crisis are creating a very precarious situation for the population. Many businesses that provide employment, goods and services are being forced to close their doors. CARICHAM urges all regional governments to expeditiously assist Haiti in every way possible, in addressing the current crisis.

Paradath Anilkumar (Mr.)
Chair of CARICHAM
