Customs Department Complaint Invoice Requirements

Please find below correspondence below from the Customs and Excise Department issued this afternoon April 6th, 2021.

Pleasant Good Evening To All,

Kindly see in reference to the caption subject matter for your attention and necessary action.

In relation to the standardization of the Customs Procedures nationally, the Comptroller of Customs is in full support that the necessary measures be undertaken to ensure compliance of all invoices submitted for the importation of goods.

Under the provisions of The Customs and Excise Duties Act, Regulations (Section 5), Chapter 48, which outlines the required information to be furnished on an invoice upon the importation of goods into the country.

In line with the above, attached is a copy of the regulations and a form that is to be completed by the officer when refusing to permit the entering of goods into the country until the information required by Regulation 3 has been furnished.

This procedure is to compile information on the non-compliant invoices for administrative measures to be undertaken. Therefore, officers are urged to complete the form, issue a copy to the stakeholder, and file a copy for statistical purposes.
