Dear Members,
The National AIDS Commission (NAC), in collaboration with the Caribbean Regional Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (CRN+), successfully hosted a Public-Private Partnership Forum on January 27th, 2021. I attended the meeting as the BCCI’s private sector representative in the NAC’s CCM Committee.
The purpose of this Forum was to fuel engagement around the acceptance, development, and implementation of workplace-specific HIV policies with the primary objectives to:
- Create an environment that is conducive to openness and acceptance among employees.
- Ensure confidentiality and non-discrimination.
- Promote awareness and preventative training programs to reduce the possibility of contracting HIV/AIDS and improve care, treatment, and support services.
- Promote access to treatment and reduce new infections.
- Limit the impact of HIV/AIDS in the workplace and at the individual level for employees, their families, and communities.
- Ensure a healthy workforce and long-term production sustainability..
To keep the momentum going, NAC is pleased to offer businesses one-one guidance to move forward with the development of an HIV workplace policy. The opportunity will be provided at no cost but will yield great benefits. For more information, kindly contact Mrs. Cindy Jones Brown, Communications Officer, via email cjones@nacbelize.org or call 223-7592 / 610-5051.
