Regional Policy Dialogue on Environmental Licensing and Enforcement During Covid-19

The coronavirus pandemic has severely impacted all aspects of life in Latin America and the Caribbean including how governments conduct their core functions. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Licensing and Enforcement activities are not exceptions. Governments around the world have made urgent changes in their operations to accommodate restrictions resulting from the battle against Covid-19. Over the next four weeks, experts will discuss how their programs are adapting and what we can carry forward out of this time of crisis.
During this week’s session, we will be discussing how authorities can provide appropriate flexibility while fulfilling their mandate in times of crisis. We will review several environmental programs that have issued policies on how to exercise licensing discretion in times of crisis.
